This one speaks for itself.

Our government has bent over backward to our number one trade import partner (check this out and see the vast difference between what we export and what we import).
You don't have to be a space shuttle designer to figure this one out - just go to the store....ANY store....and find the "Made in USA" stamp versus the "Made in China" emblem.

What is this doing to our economy?
What will it do for you and your children?
Who really "owns" America?
And what happens, I pray to God NO, if we ever go to war against our "good bowing buddy to the East"?

What happens when everything we obtain has to be provided by a foreign nation.....and I don't have anything against China, Michael....I just wonder what we are doing to our economy?

And how can we change it?
How can you?

Toss in your ideas?....

  1. haha I for one take personal offense to this whole thing :P

Well, I think there is a definite case of America being seriously dependent on China for... just about everything. If the worst should happen, China could be at our doorstep demanding payment that we as Americans just don't have. Then things turn ugly.

The point of the matter is, and the whole reason we are dependent on China for imports, is that it just doesn't make business sense to build things in America! The major corporations in America, the smart CEOs, cannot find a financially feasible option of producing products here. Take Apple for example, one of the most successful companies in America, and the back of every single Apple product has the words "Designed in California. Made in China."
What does that say about the US? Innovation starts here, but is only accomplished THROUGH China.

Look at the auto industry. The majority of vehicles made for the US are built in Mexico. It simply cannot be justified to build them here.

I think it would be great to have more popular products built in the US, but the regulations and taxes and everything just can't attract enough companies.

In think there could potentially be a serious consequence for our huge dependency on China.

  2. I watched the comic and read your explanation, Mr. Johnson. (Seriously, I'm starting to think I'm the only one stating I read it :p)

Anyways, I agree with Michael that it doesn't make economic sense to make things here in America. However, I believe the very root of the problem is bigger than that.

Suppose we weren't in a huge national debt, in fact, suppose our country was somehow making money. (I know, fat chance, right?) Would we really be concerned about who we imported from if we didn't have such a huge national debt? As we've learned in apologetics, we have arrived at our situation because of Keynesian economics. At first we only "owed it to ourselves." But since we have been borrowing money from many countries we have dug ourselves into a hole.

Aside from the national debt, I see little problem importing heavily from China. Unless they suddenly go to war with us. Then...well, I'm not sure what America would do. More likely than not, we would probably collapse as a society.

  3. As John Keynes puts it, "In the long run, we are all dead."
I don't think that China is going to trust us much longer. Americans can be fully able to man the factory jobs. I don't really understand why we continue to buy things on credit after the card's been used up.

    1. I say to pay off our debt we build American reservations in China and we work in factories that make products they sell to America. This does two things; we could work for lesser pay and help pay off our debt (slowly but surely), and it would create jobs. Everyone's happy. And American hands would be making the things they designed.
Hahahahahahaha like that's ever going to happen. Ill tell you what will happen though. The Lord said in Revelation 13 there will be abetter one world government and a one world religion--and an international economy. I believe thats where we're headed. And with 14 trillion dollars in debt, there isn't enough money in the world to bring us out. Well, there is, but we spent it all :p

  4. Emily couldn't get her computer to upload her comments - this is from her creative thoughts:

I agree with pretty much everyone lol I think we're all on the same page here. And to comment on what Michael said, that the innovation starts here, but it gets completed in China...I believe one of the reasons and one of the greatest mistakes that America has done as a country is giving out our ideas to the world. It's as if every country has a fasebook and America's status's keep saying "Hey, look what we just figured out! If you want to know just how we did it, just go to our 'notes', and in case anyone misses this, we're gonna tag all of our freinds!" I mean seriously!! I think that if we would have sold our ideas(like computers, radios, military weapons) instead of just handing them out, America would be in less debt than what she's in today.
